Horse & Retirement Livery

Equus Ourique provides stable and grass livery with individual turnout in large paddocks or on paddock trails all year round. We also offer retirement livery and temporary livery if you have to bridge a gap for a few days, weeks, or months. Should you, for example, want to enjoy a holiday, being sure that your horses are well cared for. And of course, we offer horse health care control and the management of your vet, dentist and farrier appointments.

Our fields have quality electric fencing with permanent wooden posts and metal gates. There are adjoining fields for horses who require company and separated paddocks for ones that do not.

We carefully combine groups of two horses or small herds. If you would like to keep more than one horse with us, your horses can, of course, stand together in a separate field.

You can also choose whether you want them to be on a standard paddock field or on a paddock trail.

Stable Livery

If you prefer stable livery, you can choose among one of our 15 boxes (4×4m). They are all light and well ventilated within a brick built American barn.

You are also welcome to use our boxes only temporarily during the day. If your horse should take, for example, a rest during the hot summer hours. And it is also possible to select the box only for your horse’s stay during the night. This makes it an ideal option for retirement livery for your horse.

If you normally keep your horses at home, but want to go on a holiday or need to plan e.g. a stay in hospital, you are welcome to bring your horses for temporary livery to our yard. This way, you can be sure that your horses are well taken care of while you are away. On request, we can also keep your horses in training while they are here.

Horse holidays abroad with the own horse are getting more and more popular. You are very welcome to plan a stay at our facilities, if you are on a holiday with your horse. And if you are planning a trail ride across Portugal, we will be happy to offer you overnight accommodation.

Facilities & Services

We have two riding schools of 20×40 indoors and 50×70 outdoors. There is a secure tack room, feed room, hay barn, covered wash bay and tea & coffee making facilities.

All mucking out, rug changing, bringing in, turning out, hay, good quality feed and straw bedding are included within the price of the livery charge. Wood pellet bedding can also be supplied at additional cost. All our livery clients can use all the facilities at our yard.
